Dogs and the Course

Hey gang, just a note that no dogs are allowed on the course. While we're great fans of the canine world, it's a safety factor.

Sorry, Fido, you're going to have to sit this one out.

We set a new record for doubles: 18 golfers played this week, besting last week’s 16. If we keep setting records like this, we’ll have to call Guinness....and we're talking the brewery, not the book.

Now Open!

The disc golf course in Orrington, ME is now open. The grand opening occurred on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Open 7 days a week from 9am until dark, this course is, for the most part, done and ready for you to come play. The fairways were carefully cut by Dave Enman and his brother Ryan, both of whom will be managing this course. This mostly wooded course does require you to have a technical element to your game as you maneuver through this 6,171' course. The fairways are fair, and with 8 baskets working for a lefty, 8 baskets working for a righty, and two going straight-up-the-gut, this is a balanced course and makes you, the golfer, work your plastic. Nice!

Once cut, the trees were then woodchipped back onto the fairways

They stared working on the course in the cold of April, 2009. By late July, it was ready for play. There are still concrete tee pads to put in, but other than that, it's ready. There's been an increase in the number of people who are coming to play, so the early signs are good. While there was a course in Bangor, Maine a few years ago, it was wide open in a field, and just didn't offer a challenging course to play. For the most part, disc golf will be getting off the ground in the Bangor area with this course now in place.
